AN INTERVIEW WITH Gamito Fumane, DIRECTOR

As a filmmaker, please introduce yourself.

My name is Gamito Fumane. I am an independent filmmaker from Mozambique, founder of Fumane Films,

and a passionate storyteller dedicated to bringing original and impactful stories to life.

Why you became a filmmaker as director and producer?

I became a filmmaker because I believe cinema is one of the most powerful ways to connect people,

cultures, and emotions. As both director and producer, I wanted to have the creative freedom to tell stories that

matter and to help build a stronger film industry in my country and beyond.

Give some more information about yourself and the films you have made so far, about your experience?

"Frozen Revenge" is my first feature film, and it marks the beginning of my professional career in cinema.

I have also worked on several short film projects and have experience in scriptwriting, directing, and producing.

Through Fumane Films, I aim to create films that are emotionally powerful, socially relevant, and visually compelling.

What are the films or people that had impacts on you and deeply inspired you to become a filmmaker?

I have been deeply inspired by filmmakers such as Christopher Nolan, Alfonso Cuarón, and Denis Villeneuve. Their storytelling styles and visual mastery have greatly influenced my passion for filmmaking. Films like Interstellar, Roma, and Prisoners showed me the power of cinema to move audiences deeply.

You have made your film "Frozen Revenge" which got official selection in the

"American Golden Picture International Film Festival".

As a filmmaker, why you decided to make it?

I decided to make "Frozen Revenge" because I wanted to tell a story about betrayal, resilience, and personal transformation. It’s a story that reflects how tragedy can lead a person to find unexpected strength, and I wanted to share that emotional journey with the world.

What were some of the challenges you faced in making this specific film?

As an independent filmmaker, one of the main challenges was working with a limited budget while aiming for high production quality. Additionally, managing time, resources, and coordinating a relatively small crew required careful planning and a lot of dedication.

Let us more about your experience in this film?

Making "Frozen Revenge" was a transformative experience for me. It pushed my creative limits and taught me the importance of adaptability, teamwork, and perseverance. Every obstacle became an opportunity to learn and grow as a filmmaker.

The Cast and Crew member of your film supports the story in a good way.

What was it like to work with them?

Working with the cast and crew was incredible. Their passion, talent, and commitment to the project were

truly inspiring. We built a strong bond based on trust and mutual respect, which helped bring out the

best performances and production quality.

For you what was the biggest lesson you had to learn after making this film?

The biggest lesson I learned is that patience, resilience, and belief in the story are essential. Filmmaking is a journey full of unexpected challenges, and having a strong vision while remaining flexible is crucial for success.

What keeps you inspired to continue filmmaking?

What keeps me inspired is the power of storytelling to make a difference in people’s lives.

Knowing that a story I tell can touch someone’s heart or inspire change motivates me to continue creating.

11- The most important part is distributing the film. What did you do for distributing your feature film "Frozen Revenge"?

For distribution, I submitted "Frozen Revenge" to international film festivals to build recognition and exposure.

I’m also currently in conversations with sales agents and distribution companies to secure broader release

opportunities on digital platforms and potentially streaming services.

What are your filmmaking goals?

My goals are to continue growing as a filmmaker, to create films that resonate globally while showcasing

the rich culture of Mozambique, and to establish Fumane Films as a recognized brand

for quality and impactful storytelling.

What is your next project?

My next project is a dramatic thriller that explores themes of guilt, justice, and redemption.

I am currently in the development phase, working on the script and assembling the team. I’m excited to take everything I’ve learned from "Frozen Revenge" into this new journey.

GOOD LUCK Gamito
